Puerto Banús is a luxury marina, located in the area of Nueva Andalucía, 6 km.to the west of Marbella, on the Costa del Sol.
It was built in the seventies by José Banús, a local property developer, as a luxury marina and shopping complex.
It has since developed as a playground for the rich people and celebrities, a glittering arena to show off wealth and glamour.
The spectacular marina of Puerto Banus houses more than 900 boats, some of them belonging to the world's wealthiest individuals, including the yachts of the King of Saudi Arabia.
Along the lively seafront street you will find classy and charming restaurants, bars, clubs, and the world's most prominent designer shops and expensive boutiques.
The luxury atmosphere is enhanced by stunning sports cars like Ferraris and Lamborghinis that are presented in abundance you haven't probably seen before.
Attractively dressed and well-groomed people are looking to spend a great night out.
Hen and stag parties are common events here that contribute to the bustling nightlife of Puerto Banus.
In the daytime, you can visit and enjoy the wonderful Levante beach, with an impressive mountain backdrop view and the beautiful Mediterranean sea. The beach offers sun loungers and umbrellas to rent.
In the heart of Puerto Banus, between the port and El Corté Ingles shopping center, is situated the Antonio Banderas square ( Plaza de Antonio Banderas ), named after the famous actor, who was born in Malaga.
Due to its proximity to Marbella, Puerto Banus is easily accessible.
The most pleasant and quick way to get there from Marbella is by Fly Blue ferry which leaves from Puerto Deportivo in Marbella. The ride takes about 20 minutes and gives beautiful views of the Golden Mile coastline.
Tickets cost 9.00 Eur one way and 15.00 Eur return.
You can also go there by car or use bus services. If you prefer, you can even walk the 6 km promenade ( Paseo Maritimo) festooned with palm trees and nice hotels all the way to Puerto Banus.
The nearest airport is the Málaga Airport to the east (60 km) and Gibraltar airport to the west (75 km) away.
